The Aston Martin Virage has had same owner for the last 12 years. The Virage was built between 1989 -1995 and the total production was only 365 unit. You wont see this car everyday. Many parts were sourced from other cars. For example, GM , Jaguar, and Ford provided the steering column , climate control panel, and dash switches. Ford acquired Aston Martin and Jaguar just before the Virage was launched. I was always disappointed to find out parts were sourced from a cheaper inferior car. Its one thing to be informed but to spot the part from a less desired car is depressing.
The Virage was considered a heavy car even though it was all aluminum body. It could reach a top speed of 158 mph. Shockingly, the 5 speed ZF manual transmission was fitted to only 40% of the cars. The more popular option was to order the automatic transmission with a Chrysler 3 speed Torqueflite transmission. In 1993, the 3 speed was upgraded to a 4 speed automatic. Later a 6 speed manual transmission was offered late in the production run. The 6 speeds are the ones to own.
To this day, I cant stand the way Aston Martin names their model line up. Its so confusing.
Aston Martin had the Virage and its high performance counterpart is the Vantage in 1993. The Vantage was later referred to only has the V8 Coupe starting in 1996
