Porsche 4 Cam Type 547 Engine

Spotted in Center Barnstead, New Hampshire is a Porsche 4 Cam Type 547 Engine for $300,000 USD. I remember when I came across a Spare Engine at for $80,000 and I thought that was too high. I so regret that decision. This is engine #90944. It was rebuilt by Karl Hloch and currently has 2 Mille Miglia events under its belt powering a 550 spyder. This was originally a GS engine and it can be fitted with either a GS fan shroud with heat snorkel , car pre-heaters, etc. or a GT Shroud. Engine is complete and runs well.

1955 Porsche 550 Spyder by Beck

Spotted in Scottsdale, Arizona is a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder by Beck for $38,500 USD. Chuck Beck created the beck spyder kit car in the 1990s. This is an early example #10 and completed in 1990. It was also titled as a 1955 Porsche. Most buyers chose VW drive trains for their spyders but this car has a real Porsche 356 engine. The transmission is a 4 speed taken from a VW. Unlike the original cars that were made of aluminum , the beck spyders were fiberglass bodies. This ca looks more authentic due to its plexiglass windscreen rather than a speedster windscreen which is all wrong. These are fun cars to drive up Highway 1 along the California coast for not a lot of money.

The builder really did their homework to build this car to get as close as possible to the actual car. They did a very good job. Instead of using a speedster windshield , the builder put on a frameless lexan windshield like the original car. It has the proper looking pea shooter exhaust pipe. The alloy wheels are custom to this car. Not exactly correct but still good looking. I like the attention to detail on the front and rear signal lights. The interior looks well done as well. The steering wheels , turn signal stalk , switches all look great. I like the overall attention to detail. The badging looks correct as well.
