Clarion G80 Sound System Restoration

Posted on 264 views
Clarion G80 Sound System I have a 1983 Mercedes 500SEC euro spec that was fitted with them AMG body kit and trunk spoiler, AMG Rear Speaker Shelf, Rial Wheels , as well as the visually impressive Clarion G80 Sound System in the center console. When I bought the car, it needed everything. It sat in a barn for over a decade and needed some major attention. Unfortunately the Clarion system was not working. The previous owner said it did work before being put away for many years. When it came time to start troubleshooting the sound system, it became obvious that it was going to be difficult. The Clarion G80 would power ON which let the different modules glow green but the tuner display, the tuner, and the tape deck did not work.

Spotted in Miami for sale is a 1989 Mercedes 560SEC AMG Renntech for $39,500 USD. This non widebody car had a lot of the AMG options enthusiasts are looking for. It has a powerful M117 Renntech tuned motor. Would like to know more about what was done to it. It is black with a grey interior and has Recaro Classics seats installed. Overall its a clean car with a lot of rare and desirable AMG enthusiast parts.

Mercedes W126 380SEC/500SEC/560SEC Factory Tow Hitch

Mercedes W126 Factory Tow Hitch

Have you ever seen one of these? This is a Mercedes W126 380SEC 500SEC 560SEC Factory Tow Hitch. These rare tow hitches are mounted on each side by 3 bolts and a backing plate for reinforcement. I was not able to verify if the bumper was unique to cars with the tow hitch or if a modification was required. The entire tow hitch assembly sells for $2,000 USD on the open market. Not many will tow something with an old SEC but its cool to see that Mercedes took the time to make a tough and durable tow hitch for it. Its a cool and very rare item and important to document.

Spotted in Milwaukee, is a 1985 Mercedes 500SEC for $27,500 USD.  The seller states this car has only 22,000 original miles.  It was imported Germany to Lebanon then to USA.  The car was garaged and stored away properly.  There is no evidence of rust or body damage.   The seller states in his ad it has an AMG motor.  I have many more questions for the owner.  It has Recaro Seats, Tail Spoiler and AMG Penta wheels.  There was a recent service done on the car which includes new brake rotors, pads, new oil, spark plugs and transmission fluid.   The seller has title in hand. What do you think of this car?

1991 Mercedes 560 SEC AMG Mods and large cache of rare parts

Location: Lancaster, California Odometer:  232,623 Miles Title: Salvage VIN: WDBCA45EXMA593919 This looks very similar to the 560SEC AMG car that was built on the tv show Wheeler Dealers minus the Fender Flares.   This car comes with a garage full of rare parts for this car.   If you are looking for a project car this maybe worth looking into.  I love the AMG 3 piece wheels onthis car.  They are very rare and expensive.   A good set pop up from time to time and I think they sell for $2500+ these days.  I had a set on my Merceddes 300CE a long time ago and they really made the car.  The biggest issue was cracking around the bolts no thanks to all the LA pot holes.
