1994 Mercedes E500 Found in Philadelphia
Location: Philadelphia
Odometer: 226,000 Miles

This E500 is located in Philadelphia and the owner sounds like a true enthusiast.    He says he has service records going back 20 + years with over 100 pages of detailed maintenance records.   It has had 3 owners since new and no history of accidents or rust.  The mileage is high at 226,000 miles which could scare off a lot of people but it sounds like its always been properly maintained.  I am interested to know if a engine rebuilt has been done and if so by whom?   It is worth doing an inspection but the car looks better than most I have seen.

There were 1528 examples built between 1992 to 1994.   In 1994 , there was believed to be 350-400 units produced with probably half that are still on the road today.  Keep in mind the 1994 model had  face lift including a new front grille, new headlights, new hood , and rear deck lid changes unique to the 1994  year only.    I think it has the subtle updated look that makes the car stand out from the previous years.  The period correct Renntech upgrades are really great.  I remember reading in the Renntech brochure about these options.   The ASR delete upgrade turns off the traction control while retaining the ABS functions.   The 1st gear start allows you to start in 1st instead of 2nd gear for faster acceleration.   It also as an upgraded ECU with a chip.    It also comes with the original 16″ wheels.   I prefer the 3 piece AMG wheels for this car but havent seen a set for sale in over a year now.  They are known to crack at the rivets so its difficult to find a good set.

The Mercedes E500 was collaboration between Porsche and Mercedes.  Porsche influenced  the suspension engineering for these cars.   I have always had an interest in these cars but told myself I would only buy it if it was exactly what I wanted which is a last year 1994 production model in silver.   There is one local to me and I see once or twice a year.   The next time  I see them , I will ask them if its for sale.
