Spotted for sale is a 1987 BMW M5 for $13,000
Car starts, runs, drives. Not ready for prime time. Yes, it will go around the block.
Mechanicals are all intact, in original condition with recent fluid changes.
Engine starts, will idle. Is smooth when warmed up, will not hot start. Cool down it fires right up. No mods to the engine. All the parts are there.
Brakes: The terminal lines have been replaced, new pads and rotators. The rotors have either been replaced, on the front and rebuilt on the rear.
Suspension components are mostly new.
Exhaust has a new catalytic converter section ($1000). Rest is in need or work.
Body has surprisingly little rust, needs attention. The paint is, well look at the pictures. It has patina that’s for sure. Some of the sections definitely need a refinish. The spoiler rubber is in good condition. It does not appear that the car has ever been in an accident.
Underbody is what you would expect, needs attention.
Interior needs a thorough cleaning. Back seat is almost like new. Front seats very worn. Passengers front seat is better than the drivers seat. They need work. Interior needs carpet removal and new install. Has musty smell.
This is a restorable car for someone with the experience to rebuild it. Age has finally caught up with me and I must move on.
