Spotted for sale is a 1985 BMW M635CSL Gemballa for $350,000 USD
Stylish and dramatic super coupé
* Rare and desirable Gemballa specification
* Reliable and easily serviced BMW running gear
With its dramatic front wheel arches extending all the way to the back of the car, encapsulating the rear trunk with an aggressive wing, the Gemballa 635 was a nod to the current generation SEC Mercedes and the 928 Porsche which Gemballa also tuned at the time.
While badged as an M635CSi, this car is fitted with the SOHC 3.5-litre M30 engine mated to a 4 speed automatic gearbox. It is unknown how many Gemballa special 635s were made due to Gemballa keeping no records but there are thought to be only one in the US. This car is fitted with a custom stainless steel ‘hexagonal’ exhaust and sits on the correct Ronal wheels. Having been on museum display for a number of years, some recommissioning will be required prior to returning to the road.
The Gemballa-conversion to widebody used to cost 150.000DM (1985). And sold for a staggering 275,000 DM
