Spotted for sale is a 1980 Mercedes G wagon 280GE Cabriolet for $29,500
1980 Mercedes G wagon 280GE cabrio- rare truck sold into the states in 2000 through Europa imports out of Santa Fe New Mexico. A lot records and original bill of sale when.
Project truck but runs and drives fine went through the fuel lines, fuel pump, injection system cleaned, fluids changed. Motor is healthy. Brakes are good and trans clutch good as well.
Items needing to be addressed: power windows work but are currently not hooked up (was going to convert to crank windows).
-The instrument gauge was working on and off but now quit all together. Might be ground issue but not sure.
Heater core needs replaced.
Seats are from a ML Mercedes and are power but not hooked up.
-Shifts through gears really good but you have to hold your hand on shifter in 3rd so doesn’t pop out (linkage probably needs adjustment).
Older AT tires prob 50-60% tread but shimmy pretty good until they are warmed up. Probably worth just replacing them.
Other items needing addressed, fuel filler neck has dry rot so leaks some when filling the truck with gas.
Early year (1979-80) 1st years for the G wagon. This has the straight 6 2.8 gas motor with 4 speed manual.
Understand this is not some new G wagon. this is military raw style truck more a weekend toy. Also it needs things addressed so have it priced accordingly, other similar cabrio g wagons with the gas straight six bring 40-60k. Fix the issues and it’s a 40-50k truck.
