1978 Ferrari 308 Factory Special Order
Spotted in Connecticut is a 1978 Ferrari 308 Factory Special Order for $73,500 USD. It was specially ordered from the Factory with white interior, white targa top, white rear louvers, and white head light louvers. The belt line was also painted white as well. These special requests by the original owner are documented with paperwork between Ferrari and the buyer. The car was also ordered with Campagnolo wheels which are more commonly found on the Dino 246. A set of these originals wheels are very desirable and worth north of $4,000 on the open market. The buyer was also able to documented the build at the factory through pictures and correspondence letters. Included with the sale is a book called the “Certificato D’Origine” (certificate of origin) and the invoice from the Ferrari factory to the first owner. There are also photographs of the car being air freighted over to New York. The car comes with a tool kit, jack kit and complete owners manual pouch. Very few special orders were allowed by the Ferrari Factory in 1978.

The seller states:
I have known this car for many years. It comes with a steady service history which includes two timing belt changes (last belt change was at 27500 miles)and one clutch replacement. I have been around Ferrari 308 cars for many years, I can not recall ever seeing one that was special ordered from the factory or having any of the documentation that this car comes with. In the world of car collecting, special, rare and original are key words that adds to value. The car was shown in the 1991 Ferrari National Meet where it placed 1st in class for the 308 cars. This car is very special and rare, the originality is documented via the photo book and copies of correspondence that accompanies this car. If you are building a collection or just want a very special “one of” car then this is the car to get!
