1975 BMW 2002 project car with 2 engines included vintage sports car for $10,000

Up for sale is a 1975 BMW 2002 project car. We bought this car with the intention of a full restoration, but only made it so far. When purchased the body and interior of the car , we were told, were fully complete. The original engine and transmission had been sold and the plan was to engine swap for an M42 engine out of a BMW E36. Two engines were purchased for the swap. One of out of a 1999 BMW E36, and the other out of a 1995 BMW E30. Both engines are complete.

We stripped the body down to metal and had the body and paint done at Newport Mesa Service & Son in Costa Mesa, CA. We had body work done, the whole car painted, and the interior/trunk area coated. The paint color is a factory BMW color called, Tundra Green Metallic (008).

We ended up working on the engine from the 1999 BMW E36. We had the engine cracked open and got the head planed, valves adjusted, and put in new valve stem seals. The engine is still separated, but just needs a new set of head bolts to be put back together. We have new gaskets for the entire engine. Transmission hasn’t been touched, but we were told it came out of a working car. The only thing missing , we were told, in the drive train is the drive shaft.

The interior is in good shape. To our knowledge the rear seat is original. The front seats are Recaros. The original dash is cracked. We ordered new panels for the doors. All the glass is original.

This is a project car at its best. Ready for someone to come in and finish the job and enjoy a vintage BMW street racer.
