Spotted for sale in San Diego is a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 Rare Mexico Sprint Edition for $13,000

Very Rare 1973 1/2 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Mexico Sprint Edition, Hecho En Mexico, 1 of approximately 600 made, 4 colors offered – Red, Brown, Green or Blue all combined with a white two tone paint and a large Mach 1 graphic on the rear quarter panels. Unique features that differ from the American versions are 351 Windsor 4 barrel V8 engine (not Cleveland), smaller air cleaner assembly, gold valve covers, 240 kilometer speedometer, heater delete, medium rise bucket seats (similar but not as tall as high backs), Dana 44 rear end / axle ( not 9 inch), and totally different vin number system. Very hard to find information on these rare cars but I was able to find an old article online with some great information and some fuzzy pictures.

All 600 of them came with the two-tone paint, large Mach 1 graphics, NASA hood, 351W V8 engine, 4 barrel carburetor, 4-speed top loader transmission, Dana 44 rear end / axle, front disc brakes, standard interior with bucket seats, center console, in dash tachometer, and
No air conditioning, no power steering, no radio, heater delete.

This now yellow Mach 1 Sprint Edition comes with its original Factura sheet stating that it was originally Blanco/Café color, meaning it was a two-tone brown and white (see last 4 pictures of red car for similar reference found on internet) I believe the interior of this one was originally Ginger and white.

The engine is freshly rebuilt and balanced 351 Windsor, has Hecho En Mexico castings, not sure if it is #’s matching or not, has not been re-installed into the car yet as I was going to repaint the engine compartment. Engine and trans are currently in storage. The 4 Speed top loader trans also has Hecho En Mexico casting.

The body was previously painted yellow down in Mexico by my friends step father (previous owner) and it was done kind of cheaply. The body had rust at one time. Has bondo and non original sheet metal patches here and there. Also used to have a sun roof that was patched but now is cracking on the roof. Will need a new roof skin which is now being reproduced. This car is all complete. Comes with matching front valance, bumper, grill and hood not pictured. Some parts have been restored and others need restoring. Great project! Very rare and different from the rest.

Clean California title in my name. Non-opp registration.
Can deliver if close or further for a fee.
