1971 BMW 2002 resto mod

Rebuild June 2020

  • ireland engineering performance metal headgasket
  • ireland engineering headbolt set
  • ireland engineering oil pan baffle and windage tray
  • ireland engineering silicont coolant hoses
  • ireland engineering sport motor mounts
  • WPC treated pistons along with WPC treated rod bearings (WPC is an anti friction coating)
  • JB Racing 8lb aluminum flywheel with SACHS clutch kit
  • ceramic coated exhaust manifold
  • MSD Ignition box, MSD ignition wire and coil
  • e21 BOSCH alternator
  • Top end performance strut bar (re-powdercoated to silver)
  • rebuilt brake booster
  • custom build 2 1/4″ stainless steel exhaust with magnaflow muffler. (the smaller ireland engineering exhaust had cracked multiple times so it was removed)
  • custom machined velocity stacks for weber 45mm carburetors


  • ground control complete racing suspension
  • I have detuned the suspension to be more compliant on the street with softer springs and now more streetable koni shocks now

  • 5 speed transmission rebuilt in 2016
  • uses bmw z3 shifter with new bushings for a nice short sporty shift
  • sway bars re-powdercoated in red
  • ball joints replaced
  • volvo girling caliper with Ferodo ds2500 brake pads and e21 stoptech rotors with new wheel bearings


  • carpet was changed to black
  • driver seat newly reupholstered in November 2020
  • reupholstered center console with e30 euro clock tray, radio and vdo gauges along with re-wire to 1 single plug for easy disconnect.

That’s probably most of it. There’s probably a few more things I can’t remember at the moment.
I also have parts to include such as the spare rear subframe and differential, door and door panels.
