1960 Porsche 356 Super 90 Cabriolet For Sale

Location:  San Francisco , California
Price $163,000 US Dollars

This is a Concours ready fully restored Porsche 356 Super 90 Cabriolet.    I has its Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and is a complete matching numbers car.    The seller hired Tim Goodrich for the restoration and rebuilt the motor with Jim Rinker.   It has new floors and longitudinals.   No expense for originality was spared.   There is nothing more to do on this car.   Just get in and drive it.    With 356A coupe project cars in the $80,000 range,  this looks to be a steal.   I dont think you can spend $80k in restoration costs and get the car to this standard.

In 1960 , a customer could choose between a 1.6 Liter engine in 60 and 70 horsepower versions.   There was a third option which was the Super 90 which gave you 90 horsepower!     This engine also known as the 616/7 was targeted to the American buy who always wanted more power.    Porsche built this engine option with increased intake charge with larger valves, increased lift on the cam intake lobes and higher ratio rocker arms in new magnesium carriers.  Aluminum push rods replaced the former steel units on engines with aluminum cylinders to match expansion under heat.  The Super 90’s 40mm dual Solex carbs and matching air cleaners were sourced from the Carrera Engine.   The Super 90 engine combined with suspension and tire refinements to make the 356B the best road-going Porsche ever to that point, and today the model is a time-honored classic.
