I always wanted to learn more about the Citroen 2CV after seeing one in downtown Carmel by the Sea. I believe it was being used as a delivery car by a local french themed restaurant. The French have always had their on distinct flair on automotive design and innovation which I really love. The 2 CV is one of those cars that are not the most beautiful or the fastest but are somehow charming and purposeful. These cars were introduced at the 1948 Paris Mondial de L’ Automobile and manufactured between 1948 -1990. It was designed to be a low cost , easily serviceable, and had long suspension travel for versatility. This car is a convertible model with full width canvas, roll back sunroof, which allowed for over sized cargo.
Citroen 2CV 1957 – from the Belgium Factory – Early 1957 type – rear Oval window ( not the usual Trapazoid style ) – no front defogger – Has the Unique Belgium dash board – Citroen Chevron steering wheel – USA title – Runs and drives – Only 30 of this type of 2CV “in any condition” in the USA. Side rear running lamps – Hella Original rear / plate # lamp – Original Yellow front lamp
The 1948 model produced 9 horsepower and had 0-40 time of 42.4 seconds and a stop speed of 40 mph.
The Top speed increased with engine size over the years. 1955 = 50mph / 1962 = 52mph / 1970 = 62 mph / 1981 = 71 mph
