1955 Porsche 550 Spyder Replica Project
This looks like a stalled project found for sale in Connecticut. Its a Thunder Ranch Porsche 550 Spyder. The sellers has accumulated a lot of parts for this project including parts by Fibersteel. The seller states he has approximately $21,000 in receipts and is ready to pass it on to another enthusiast. The price is fare and you will be ahead of the game by starting with a project in this stage. I was not aware that Thunder Ranch no longer exists. It is now owned by Rock West Racing based in San Diego.
Project Includes:
Custom built HD transaxle
New dunlop tires on power coated brazilian wheels
Front and Rear disc brakes
New Tan Interior including seats
Price $13,500 USD

December 9, 2017I just checked out your blog https://alongcameaspyder.wordpress.com/
Looks amazing!
What kind of engine will you put into it?
When do you anticipate the car to be finished?

February 23, 2018Thanks for visiting. The engine is a Jake Raby-built Type 1, 1914 cc. Weber 44s, Engle 120 cam, rated at 120 hp. It’s 10 years old but has only 1200 miles on it, according to Carey Hines at Beck/Special Edition. He pulled it out of one of his Speedsters to put a Subaru mill in it.
I’m hoping to finish the car by May. Realistically, though… we’ll see.
Just cut the holes for the brake and parking lights today.
