1978 Lamborghini Espada III

Spotted in California is a 1978 Lamborghini Espada III for $75,000 USD.   This is an ultra rare 1978 model Series 3 car with only 8,000 original miles (13K Kilometers.)  According to the seller this is believed to be the only example known to exist in the USA.   The Lamborghini factory stopped shipping Espadas to the USA in 1976 but continued to be built until 1978.  This car was purchased from Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from a Saudi Royal Prince.  At the time of purchase the car had only 6000 Kilometers but currently reads 13,000 Kilometers.  It was shipped from the port of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Laspezia , Italy and then eventually arrived at the Port of Los Angeles/ Long Beach during the summer of 1982.   The DOT standards were done by Albert Merdikian Engineering in Newport Beach, California known for building the Ferrari Spider in Miami Vice.

This car has undergone a fully restored leather interior which includes the seats, dash and panels.  The Espada was serviced and maintained by South Coast Ferrari of Orange County, California with all records included with the car.  The 12 cylinder engine was completely rebuilt by South Coast Ferrari from the ground up including 6 brands new Four Barrel Weber Carburetors (old ones are still on the car) for a total cost of $40,000 USD (receipts included).   The engine will need service before restarting and the broken windshield will have to be replaced.    The car is rust free and has been in dry storage since 1990.   It has a clean California Title with original owners manual along with a signed letter from Ferrucio Lamborghini stating the market it was originally manufactured for.   There is a 2 inch thick folder of all original documents.    The car was purchased by the seller in 1982 and is a 1 owner vehicle since it arrived in the USA.  It does not run at the moment and will need servicing.

1973 Mercedes 450SLC Mercedillac Found in Hollywood

1973 Mercedes 450SLC Mercedillac

Spotted in Hollywood is a 1973 Mercedes 450SLC Mercedillac for $3,000 USD.  I have taken picture of this well known car in the Hollywood Hills before.  Someone went to alot of trouble to make this one off car.  According to the owner , it has been used in music videos, Playboy TV and is affectionately called the “Mercedillac.”  It runs… barely. The engine is essentially solid and a new fuel pump was just installed, but it needs work. As does the suspension and possibly drive shaft. The driver’s side door needs an exterior handle. The interior is, well, idiosyncratic. There is rust in the floorboards.  You can drive it away, but I wouldn’t go far.  So it’s a bit of a project, to be honest.  But the body is clean, and remarkable. Yes, those are the genuine fins of a genuine 1959 Cadillac. And yes, that is a genuine Mercedes Benz 450SL.

1991 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 Found in New York

1991 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 (964)

Spotted in New York is a 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo  for $109,950 USD.  The seller states this is a completely stock example with no aftermarket mods.  It is a 3 owner car with only 65k Miles.  I really like the special order color combination on this one.  Porsche introduced the 964 Turbo model in March, 1990 as the successor to the 930. Unfortunately, they hadn’t had the necessary time to develop a turbocharged version of the 3.6 litre M64 engine, and chose to re-use the 3.3 litre engine from the 930, with several minor revisions that made the engine smoother, less prone to turbo lag and more powerful, with a total output of 320 PS (240 kW; 320 hp) @ 5750 rpm. A total of 3,660 of the 964 Turbos were built.

1937 Horch 930 V Cabriolet

Spotted in New York is a 1937 Horch 930 V Cabriolet for $189,500 USD.  August Horch  build highly desirable cars that rivaled Mercedes Benz .  Interestingly, the latin translation of Horch is Audi which means “Listen!”  In 1932 Horch and Audi merged with Zschopauer Motrenwerke and the Wanderer car production facilities to become Auto Union.  These highly collectibles vehicles are extremely rare.  I was fortunate enough to see one at Pebble Beach.   There was a time where I was given the opportunity to buy a barn find Horch minus the engine.  The seller decided not to sell given the extremely interest in his car.  This 1937 Horch 930 V Cabriolet is an incredibly rare and elusive discovery and the ideal pre-war restoration candidate. Yellow and black with original upholstery. This extremely original Horch was parked in 1964 and has been sitting in a garage ever since. V8 engine and 4-speed with overdrive. The motor turns freely. The engine bay is completely intact and is only missing its radiator. The car is also very solid with only superficial surface corrosion. A fascinating and exciting pre-war discovery. A once and a lifetime opportunity to own what’s likely one of the last un-restored Horch cabriolets in existence.
