The Ferrari Opus : Rare Book by Ferrari

Posted on 0 0

What is the Ferrari Opus Book? It is meant to be the definitive book on Ferrari by Ferrari. It comes in 3 version with varying price tags. These books are enormous! I was fortunate enough to see this book in person at the Ferrari Dealership in the Wynn Hotel. I believe it was the Classic Opus version (lowest) and was selling for $2000 US Dollars. Its a huge book and very rare. I promised myself that If I won money at baccarat, I would go get the book. Sadly, the gambling gods were not having it and had to go to my room in the red. I have never seen one for sale since so I thought it would be fun to write about it.

I always wanted to learn more about the Citroen 2CV after seeing one in downtown Carmel by the Sea.   I believe it was being used as a delivery car by a local french themed restaurant.     The French have always had their on distinct flair on automotive design and innovation which I really love.

This looks like an  excellent set of Ferrari 288GTO wheels.  They  do not come up for sale very often, so it needs to be documented when they do.   The Ferrari 288GTO was produced fro 1984 to 1987.  Only 272 cars were produced so parts are rare.    You really need to find a GTO owner in need of a spare set.   Most of these cars are garage queens so its unlikely an owner abused their car.    I have yet to see on a track and pushed hard.   I have always been a sucker for knock off wheels especially 3 piece knock off wheels.  They are a very pretty 1980’s era design.

  • 2010:  A set of wheels selling for $2,200 without center hubs.
  •  2015:  A set of wheels were for sale for $15,000 in Norway.

Ferrari Dino Head Light Covers

Ferrari Dino Head Light Covers

I have no doubt that the Ferrari Dino should have left the Ferrari Factory with headlight covers installed.   Paninfarina envisioned the design of the Ferrari Dino 206 GT Prototype from 1967 with headlight covers. ( see prototype below)

It should be noted that headlight covers were only tested on prototypes, but never  fitted on production cars at the factory.  Headlight covers were only fitted by the importer or dealerships.

1972 E Series Euro Dino 246GT wreck in Zimbabwe/ Rhodesia

1972 E Series Euro Dino 246GT wreck in Zimbabwe/ Rhodesia

VIN: 03388

This is a wrecked Ferrari Dino 246GT that happened in the 1980s and parted. This car is not available for sale but what an amazing story this Dino must have. Can anyone track down its history? (VIN 03388)

1972 E Series Dino 246GT Euro crashed in an accident in Zimbabwe/ Rhodesia in the 1980s.
Owned by an Australian who worked in Rhodesia and owned the wreck. He went back to Australia and had to leave the car but he was able to salvage usable parts like a pair of Dino Leather Seats.

Brandoli Dino 246 /206 Rear Glass

Dino rear window 2

This a Dino 246/206 Rear Glass (reproduction)

Owner states this is from the Brandoli located in Modena, Italy.
They are known for having many hard to find parts for Dinos. I have used Brandoli for other items and have been satisfied with the quality. I have purchased headlight covers for the Dino that has the correct curve, unlike so many other vendors. This is not an OEM product but it is being offered by the seller for $2,900.  I dont know if this is a good deal but finding an OEM window is getting scarce.   If you are in need of a rear window, I would suggest calling every vendor first to see if anyone has one stashed away.   Only then would I contact vendors in Europe like Brandoli, in Italy.
